The first Thursday of the month I have the pleasure of attending my local quilt guild meetings. Mrs. P knows that I quilt for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative (www.alzquilts.org) and always presents me with a bag of scraps to use for my little projects. This past week was no exception.
Once I arrived home to find a quiet house and a happy family, I sat down and explored Mrs. P’s scrap bag. The most beautiful black and white fabrics all cut in wedges fell onto my table. With them, I instantly pieced a fan type piece. It was lovely, but too large for the Alzheimer’s Priority Quilt Project (The maximum size being 9 inches by 12 inches and able to fit in a USPS Priority Envelope).
So, in a moment of inspiration directly from above, I took the rotary cutter and began to slice. What you see above is the result of this seemingly violent act that led directly to the creation of this beautiful little work.
What do you think I should name it?
