Quilts at the Washington County Fair 2013

Adults and children alike enter the Washington County Fair. The children's work is usually in the 4-H building and is completed under the instruction of proud parents and other volunteers.
Here are photos from the exhibit quilts (of adults entries) with notes about the makers.

This fun dinosaur quilt by JoAnn Rehm of Whitehall, NY earned her a blue ribbon.

The Best of Show quilt is this stunner by Jean Mead of Whitehall, NY.

Janet Kilmer's crazy throw earned her a blue ribbon as well.

I just love Phyllis Curtis, of Cambridge, NY's Grandmothers's Flower Garden.

My mother-in-law, Lucille Makrin, earned a blue ribbon for this beautiful sunflower. She made this in conjunction with a Sharon Schambers class on curved piecing. Below is a close-up detailing the amazing embellishment work.

Patricia Nestle, of Greenwich, NY mixes two traditional blocks in this fun quilt.

Tamaris Dolton, of Greenwich, NY made this lovely 1930s inspired piece. It was on a quilt rack and hard to photograph.

My daughter asked me to include this cute doll. I believe the blanket by Mark Havens, of Arglye, NY is what won the blue ribbon!

Finally, my mother-in-law made my children this lovely little nativity scene for Christmas. It earned her a blue ribbon and, naturally, a special place in all our hearts!

I'm sure there were quilts I missed, but I hope you enjoyed the sampling I was able to record here.

  1. That would have been great to see in person. I never thought to enter in the county fairs. I will do that next year for sure. I hope I'll see you at guild in a few weeks.
